Traditional Houses and Rooms to Rent in the Fes Medina, Morocco

We offer a selection of Traditional Houses and riads in the Fes medina. The houses are both available to rent in their entirety so you can enjoy the beauty of staying in a traditional Moroccan home in complete priviacy. Owners Jenny and Jon are installed in Fes and are available around the clock to help with questions and queries.

Dar Settash

Dar Settash is a four bedroom house available to rent in its entirety.

The house has been lovingly restored by ourselves, Jenny Barnard and Jonathan Green. We are proud to say that the restoration used only traditional techniques and materials. The house has featured in

Channel Fives 'The Rough Guide',

Channel Four's 'One Year to Pay off Your Mortgage',

The Times Newspaper,

British Airway's High Life magazine and

First Magazine.

The house quietly is tucked away in a small side street next to the hustle and bustle of Fez medina's busiest street, Talaa Sghira.

Previously owned by a courtier of the King, Dar Settash is bursting at it's seams with highly ornate tile, plaster and woodwork.

The house has four beautiful, spacious rooms with three bathrooms. There is also a stunning courtyard, living room, spacious fitted kitchen and dining room as well as a private roof terrace with some of the best views in Fes!

'There's a sense of being protected from the cities hustle with a peaceful and natural centre.... a great contrast of calm here compared to the relative madness of the medina' - Channel fives 'The Rough Guide', Feb 2008. Spoken over beautiful shots of Dar Settash's wonderful courtyard.

"Each room feels light and colourful. The terrace at the top is the crowning glory, offering a view of the medina rooftops peppered with drying animal skins and satellite dishes!" - The Times, March 2007

'There is no doubt that their care and attention to detail has paid off in the finished house.  It looks very impressive.  They have breathed life back into a beautiful building.  You have to take your hat off to what they have achieved.' - Sarah Beeney, Ch 4's 'One year to Pay off your Mortgage', Oct 2006

Dar Rouah

Dar Rouah is a two bedroom house available to rent in its entirety.

The house has been meticulously restored using traditional, environmentally friendly materials. It has some beautiful features which are completely unique to Fes, including back lighting behind carved plaster in the courtyard, a central courtyard balcony and more. The ground floor has been restored using traditional materials but with a chic and modern style. This is juxtaposed wonderfully against the original features from the courtyard level upwards.

The house is perfectly situated for exploring; right in the middle of Fes medina's two main streets.

The two bedrooms are accompanied by two luxurious bathrooms, spacious living room, a beautiful fitted kitchen/dining room and private roof terrace with views across the medina and surrounding mountains.

"Thank you for a wonderful holiday in your beautiful riad. We will definitely be returning to Fes and your house!"  - Kathy and Rich Meredith, London, Nov 07.

"There is no doubt Dar Rouah wins all the awards for best house rental we have ever stayed in. A home away from home. Thank you" - Louise and Matthew Hall, Manchester, Jan 08.
